Day 1: Chogoria Town to Meru Mount Kenya Bandas (2,950m)

Our adventure begins in Chogoria Town, where we meet our experienced guides and porters. We drive to the Chogoria Gate, the starting point of our trek. The trail takes us through lush bamboo forests, accompanied by the enchanting sounds of nature. As we ascend, we enter the moorland zone, with panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. Our first day’s destination is the Meru Mount Kenya Bandas, situated at an elevation of 2,950 meters.

Day 2: Meru Mount Kenya Bandas to Lake Ellis Camp (3,500m)

After a comfortable night at the bandas, we continue our ascent through breathtaking moorlands. The trail offers glimpses of unique flora, including the giant groundsels and lobelias that dot the landscape. We pass by the beautiful Lake Ellis, surrounded by towering cliffs and stunning alpine scenery. Our campsite for the night is the picturesque Lake Ellis Camp, located at an elevation of 3,500 meters.

Day 3: Lake Ellis Camp to Mintos Hut (4,300m)

We resume our journey, leaving Lake Ellis behind and ascending through rocky terrain and glacial valleys. As we gain altitude, the air becomes thinner, and the landscape becomes more rugged and dramatic. The trail leads us to Mintos Hut, nestled amidst awe-inspiring alpine surroundings at 4,300 meters. Here, we rest and prepare for the challenging summit push.

Day 4: Mintos Hut to Point Lenana (4,985m) and Mackinder’s Camp (4,200m)

Today is the highlight of our expedition as we aim to reach the summit of Point Lenana, the highest accessible point on Mount Kenya. We start our summit attempt in the early morning, navigating icy slopes and rocky terrain. The final stretch requires determination and endurance, but the breathtaking views from the summit make every effort worthwhile. After celebrating our achievement, we descend to Mackinder’s Camp, where we spend the night.

We pass through the famous Teleki Valley, surrounded by towering peaks and glaciers. Our camp for the night is the Met Station, situated at an elevation of 3,050 meters. On our final day, we complete our descent from the Met Station to the Naro Moru Gate. The trail takes us through dense rainforests, where we may encounter various bird species and wildlife.
